The Tongue Reveals Hidden Wounds

Chapter 3: The Tongue as a Mirror

Read at your own pace. Pause, pray, and return to the teaching whenever you need.

Teaching by Andre’ D. Fullwood

Manuscript pages 65–67

Psalm 147:3 (AMPC) “He heals the brokenhearted and binds up their wounds.”

The Hebrew word shabar (“broken”) means shattered, crushed, fractured.

Wounds do not stay silent; they speak.

Pain has a vocabulary.

Trauma has a tone.

Insecurity has a sound.

Your words reveal what you have not healed.

  • Sarcasm reveals disappointment
  • Criticism reveals insecurity
  • Anger reveals fear
  • Silence reveals shame
  • Gossip reveals jealousy
  • Harshness reveals unprocessed pain

Your mouth reveals your wounds.

Your speech leaks your fractures.

Your vocabulary exposes your unhealed places.

The tongue as a mirror confronts us with a question:

What wounds are speaking through my words?

Self-Examination

Pause and confront your heart with honesty:

1. What do my words reveal about my heart?

2. What emotional wounds leak through my speech?

3. What insecurities show up in my vocabulary?

4. What spiritual condition does my mouth expose?

5. What identity am I revealing through my words?

Let these questions search you deeply.

Healing begins with truth.

Prayer Of Purification

Father, expose the heart behind my words.

Reveal the wounds I have ignored.

Reveal the fears I have hidden.

Reveal the insecurities I have masked.

Reveal the pride I have justified.

Reveal the pain I have carried.

Heal the fractures.

Heal the disappointments.

Heal the trauma.

Heal the bitterness.

Purify my heart so You can purify my mouth.

Transform my inner world so my outer world can change.

In Jesus’ name, amen.

Apostolic Charge

Your mouth is a mirror.

Do not ignore what it reveals.

Do not dismiss what it exposes.

Do not silence what it uncovers.

Let the Spirit confront your heart so your speech can be transformed.

The next chapter will confront the tongue as a judge, the dimension of speech that justifies or condemns, acquits or convicts, aligns or opposes.
