Proverbs 15:1 (AMPC) “A soft answer turns away wrath…” The Hebrew word rak (“soft”) means tender, gentle, and mature.
Emotionally mature people speak emotionally mature words.
Emotionally immature people speak emotionally immature words.
Your speech reveals:
- your triggers
- your wounds
- your insecurities
- your fears
- your pride
- your unhealed places
Immature hearts produce immature speech.
Mature hearts produce measured speech.
Emotional maturity is not revealed in calm moments; it is revealed under pressure.
Your reactions reveal your level of healing.
Your tone reveals your level of growth.
Your vocabulary reveals your level of self-control.
The tongue as a mirror confronts us with a question:
What does my speech reveal about my emotional maturity?
